Myrick

In October of 2014 Myrick joined the very talented Winsome Hags performance troupe. Her first performance with the Winsome Hags was “Spooky Tales”  performed at the Cass District Library.  Myrick is also a crafter, artist and an entrepreneur; she has tapped into her cultural heritage to create Afro-centric products, she makes designer Heritage Hats and wearable art.   Myrick’s charge over the years has been to promote an awareness of African American history and cultural through the arts.  She celebrates KWANZAA and believes in the seven principles of Nguzo Saba (Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work and Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity and Faith) and supports the African American heritage activities in the community. She supports and participates in  the annual Vandalia Cass County Underground Railroad celebration activities held in Vandalia.   Myrick considers herself to be a “Marketwoman” (a woman who engages the open market using every gift she has to stimulate opportunities in the local free market) and enjoys selling at African American events and  summer festivals. She is committed to educating the youth of the community and encouraging everyone to learn and cherish the great African American culture that exists in the Michiana area.
